Welcome to Nature School of York
Nature School of York is committed to spirited learning, imagination, growth of the whole child, and outdoor adventures for PreK-8th graders. We do not have a one-size fits all approach to education for our students, rather the curriculum is tailored to each individual child. Nature School of York is an intentionally small school with a strong sense of community where open communication and meaningful relationships are valued.
We spend as much time outdoors as possible! We are located in Seven Valleys on a 10-acre wooded farm with goats and chickens. There are woods to explore and a nature park full of open-ended materials that encourage creativity and discovery. Our indoor spaces are inspired by nature, promote a sense of peace, and are designed for kids to feel at home.
Our teachers understand that kids are capable, creative, curious, full of potential, and worthy of respect. Our PreK-8th graders thrive in small, outdoor class settings with teachers who will both nurture and challenge students to be their best. Nature School of York educators strongly believe in relationship teaching, where educators develop strong bonds with students and their families.
Our approach is holistic; we believe that traditional academic studies are equally as important as social skills, emotional intelligence, and a growth mindset. In addition to offering our students art and music & movement classes, community members are invited to bring their expertise and talents to our classrooms. Our co-op model encourages community engagement with families in order to foster a sense of belonging, while also contributing to the broader educational experience of our students.
